New Foundation Construction in Los Angeles
A building is only as good as what it stands on. GTKN builds new foundations for homes, room additions and ADUs throughout Los Angeles, from layout and excavation to rebar, forms and the concrete pour.
From layout to pour
We start by laying out the foundation from the plans and survey, then excavate footings to the depth and width the engineer specifies. Forms are set level and square, rebar is placed and tied to the drawings, and anchor bolts and hold-downs are positioned exactly where the framing will need them. After inspection, we pour, finish and cure the concrete properly.
Slab on grade or raised foundation
Slab foundations are common for ADUs, garages and many new homes, while raised perimeter foundations with a crawlspace suit sloped lots and match many older Los Angeles houses. We build both and can explain the tradeoffs for your lot, budget and design.
Foundation and framing under one roof
Because we also frame, we know exactly what the framing crew needs from the foundation. Bolts, hold-downs and dimensions are right the first time, which keeps the project moving from concrete to walls without costly fixes in between.

"Our 1920s bungalow needed a seismic retrofit. Fair price, quick work and they were respectful of our home. We feel a lot safer now."

Foundations Questions
How long before you can frame on a new foundation?
Concrete needs time to gain strength. Framing can usually begin within several days after the pour, depending on the mix, the weather and what the engineer requires.
Do you handle the inspections?
We schedule our work around the required foundation inspections and make sure forms, rebar and hardware are ready before the inspector arrives.
Can you build a foundation on a hillside lot?
Yes. Sloped lots usually need deeper footings, stepped foundations or caissons as designed by your engineer. We review the plans and site before quoting.
